Panlab Non-Invasive Blood Pressure System for Rodents and Dogs
Panlab Harvard Apparatus NIPB system provides an easy and reliable technique to measure systemic blood pressure and cardiovascular parameters in rodents without any invasive catheterization.
The pulse signal level (heart rate) is permanently monitored on the LCD display while an internal pressure transducer is constantly measuring the current pressure applied on the cuff. Measurement process involves several steps which are performed automatically; systolic and diastolic blood pressure and calculated mean blood pressure are visualized in real time on the digital display of the control unit. With regards to the systolic pressure, it can be achieved either once the heart pulse disappears or when the first pulse reappears (user selectable) after the occlusion process.
Single and Multiple Animals Systems are available. The Multiple Animal Systems allows a sequential measurement of 6 to 12 animals without having to change the pulse transducers and tails cuffs.

Features:
Total reliability to realize consecutive measurements on the same animal
Analogic signal output for recording cuff pressure and pulse signals in a PC
Automated deflation driven separately for each animal (minimize tail lesions)
Automated cuff inflation/deflation at a very constant rate
The same system can be used for rat/dog/mice
Real values provided (without any linear regression calculation)
Easily traceable data (using a data acquisition software)
Parameters evaluated can be visualized on-line on the digital display

With regards to the systolic pressure, it can be achieved either once the heart pulse disappears or when the first pulse reappears (user selectable) after the occlusion process.
Single and Multiple Animals Systems are available. The Multiple Animal Systems allows a sequential measurement of 6 to 12 animals without having to change the pulse transducers and tails cuffs. A built-in air pump ensures automated cuff inflation/deflation at a constant and even rate. In order to avoid deterioration of the animal?s tail after submitting animals to unnecessary high occlusion pressures, the automated deflation is carried out for each animal and separately, once their own systolic value is reached. Real values (without linear regression calculation) are thus achieved while remaining easily traceable: visualization of the signal through data acquisition software NIBPChart. All units can be used for rats, mice or dogs, using specific pulse transducers and cuffs. All accessories are supplied separately. Once you've chosen the control unit, you will need to choose the appropriate transducer/cuff and animal holder (restrainer). These accessories need to be ordered separately. Restrainers are not required for anesthetized animals. An electronic simulator, heater and scanner are also available if needed.
The requirement of a warm environment for the animals is critical for accurate blood pressure measurements. To provide adequate conditions for NIBP measurement, the system can be used with a warming chamber which provides a comfortable and heated environment necessary to produce peripheral vasodilatation and isolate the animal from external noise.
